Over 100 eager K-5 students come bounding into my art room every day. Their beaming eyes and smiles scream "what are we doing today?!" before their excited voices finally give way to the question. Everyday, my goal is to answer that question with something meaningful, exciting, and inspiring!
Curious, creative, and eager are three strong descriptions of my kiddos!
With over 500 k-5 kids, and nearly half ELLearners, we have quite a diverse population. They have a lot of different learning needs, and finding clear communication pathways is essential for learning in our classrooms! My students come from various backgrounds and experiences, making every day interesting!
My Project
With these tablets, my students will be able to work independently, and collaboratively to research ideas, artists, art movements, materials, and online galleries. Students will be able to access images for observation to create their own art, but also to upload their own artworks to our network, student galleries, and our classroom blog! The ability to access enriching educational sites will change our worlds in the art room!
Teachers must teach 21st century skills, but without enough technology to go around in schools, this task can be challenging!
My students deserve the opportunity to make connections between their core classes, and my arts and humanities content, and technology is one of the greatest resources for that job! Students can create with the magic at their fingertips, but also become prepared for the changing (art or otherwise) world around us, by communicating through digital means!
