My recipe for success is whisking a wide variety of students from diverse backgrounds. With the ingredients, hands-on learning, technology and problem-solving skills through real life events, I strive to go the extra mile to make learning sizzle in Foods and Nutrition classes!
My high school is a melting pot of diversified backgrounds in the city.
Students range from average, honors, exceptional children as well ESL learners.There is an extremely high population of homeless and poverty stricken communities. I have had a Slovakian student as well as a Spanish speaking only student in a given class. Diversifying lessons for several circumstances in one class block is challenging, yet rewarding.
My Project
Today's teenage generation is a gaming society. They are best engaged through screens and hands-on involvement. Through inexpensive chrome tablets, my students can focus their attention on the curriculum centered apps and programs that have been researched, chosen and approved by the teacher. ESL students have the opportunity to expand their English skills. EC students can easily follow early grade level games when instruction is not appropriate for their learning level. The average and honor level students can have applicable research apps at their fingertips. Our class will be enriched with twenty-first century technology and utilize every spare moment through educational apps, games and programs.
All students in my class will have equal learning opportunity despite their background, language, socioeconomic level and/or learning level.
