“We need technology in every classroom and in every student and teacher’s hand, because it is the pen and paper of our time, and it is the lens through which we experience much of our world.” – David Warlick Please consider donating to the technology needs of our school's iMation computer lab!
With just over 600 students, we are a small school with a big heart blessed to serve a very diverse group of K-5 students in the suburbs of Atlanta, Georgia.
At AES, we are a Title 1 school with over half of our students receiving free or reduced lunch. Despite the many obstacles our students face outside of school, they come to school each day with joyful spirits and an eagerness to learn! Because many of our boys and girls do not have access to technology at home, it is essential that we as their teachers guide them to be effective users of technology and well-informed digital citizens who are prepared to navigate our 21st century world. In order to do so, our iMation computer lab needs to have the proper working parts! The headphones and splitters requested are used daily in our lab and really help to maximize students' learning and engagement with the technology devices we use.
AES realizes that 21st century students are digitally conscience, and they are engaged highly when they are taken out of the traditional box of learning. This knowledge inspired the creation of our school's iMation lab - a twist on the traditional computer lab by infusing digital media and content standards within the technology curriculum. The headphones and splitters will greatly support our mission of educating our digital citizens and the learning we are doing in the iMation lab. Many of the projects and activities we work on in the lab, such as podcasting, avatar creation, and storyboarding, require the use of these items (especially when student collaboration is involved, which is daily!). Aside from their use in daily instruction and learning, the headphones requested will also be great for completing online assessments. The new generation of assessments will require that students have functioning headphones. With these, our students will be well-prepared and comfortable!
Having these new materials would mean the world to my students and me!
Our boys and girls work extremely hard and are so deserving of equipment that will be functional, comfortable, and FUN for them to use! The headphones and splitters will truly benefit our learning and are sure to be a blessing for a long time to come!
