Hands-On Experience Needed In Science

My students need an energy and electricity kit, 8 flashlights, a globe, Density Blocks, 2 Triple Beam Balances, 2 Spring Scales, and 6 Thermometers.

My Students

In my math and science classroom, I try to give my students as many hands on experiences as I can. It becomes difficult when I do not have the supplies necessary or when the supplies I do have are broken. My goal is for my students to leave me with a love of science and inquiry.

I have two classes of students who love to learn.

I have several students that are determined to be inventors as well as students that love to figure out how things work. They are working hard at becoming deep thinkers who ask lots of questions and then work to find answers to those questions. Our school is a giant family. Everybody works hard to help each other whenever they may need it. Our goal is for our students to become great citizens of the community we live in.

My Project

These supplies will be used throughout the year to give my students the experiences and background knowledge they need before moving on from fourth grade. It is difficult to understand mass and volume without the opportunity to measure it using the correct tools. Circuits make more sense when a students is able to try, fail, and try again at making a light bulb burn bright. My students will get the hands on lessons and investigations that they need to make science real to them.

Donations to my classroom will help my students become life long learners and scientists by allowing them to ask questions, investigate, and find their own answers.

My students will retain what they learn in science because they will be able to use the tools instead of just hearing about them. This will help them become successful in fourth grade and up through higher grades.
