As a teacher, I know the possibilities of an Ipad in an ELA Classroom would be productive. According to research, tablets are proving to be assets in the classroom across the nation. As an ELA teacher, I know having an Ipad would bring more effective interactivity to lessons in my classroom.
My current school has about 550 students.
I teach two ELA (English-Language Arts) sections. Our Pre K-5th grade school is one of the feeder schools in town. This will be the 2nd year using Common Core and in all honesty, we are all striving to move forward with our wonderful students.
My Project
As an ELA teacher, I know that recognizing and addressing individual student levels are critical parts of any classroom. I know that through the use of an Ipad and readily available ELA apps, I can find productive ways to help reduce reading gaps with my students. Last year in an attempt to help parents, our school set up an Ipad website to help find skill apps at home. I am planning to utilize apps from that site in centers help lessen gaps. My 2nd plan of action would lie in combining technology resources for group lessons. With an Apple Dock VGA adapter, I can connect the Ipad to my interactive whiteboard and projector. It would offer a different, and yet truly meaningful interactive experience for my students. As I research, I am finding more and more possibilities of using one in my classroom.
I know with a classroom Ipad, it would increase ways for me to reach my students using interactive apps in centers and during whole group activities.
