My Students
I tell my students every day how much I love to read. I show them by doing my best to surround them with quality children's literature that I love to read to them and with them. My wish for my first graders is that they find joy and excitement every time they open a new book.
We are a group of 18 first graders who live in a medium sized community in the South.
We are a kindergarten through second grade school with about 800 students total. We are a very sweet group of students who love their teacher and love to learn new things. We are so excited to learn how to read this year! We want to be princesses, vets, and race car drivers when we grow up!
My Project
The books I am requesting are geared specifically toward beginning readers who are learning how to read through not only words, but pictures. These book sets will provide them with quality children's literature that is directed at their beginning reading levels. This will allow students to have a variety of "good fit" books that they can read independently which in turn will help them to become successful and fluent readers. I believe that early success in reading leads to life-long book lovers and individuals who have a thirst to learn more and read more. These book sets will open the door to reading for my students.
When you give a child a book, you open up their imaginations and allow them to experience new places, new people, and new situations.
You allow them to dream big and to realize that anything is possible.
