Going Green with a Document Camera

My students need a document camera to use with our smart board. We are a green school and this will help to reduce copies in my classroom.

My Students

For years I was very limited in my use of technology in the classroom. Last year I went outside of my comfort zone and implemented lessons using a smart board in my classroom. Now one year later I am hoping to get a document camera to further enhance student learning.

I am a first grade teacher in a diverse urban school system.

We have a large population of special education students as well as English Language Learners. It is important for me to reach my student in a variety of ways. Using technology has been very successful so far.

My Project

Technology is such an important part of our world today. I want my students to start using technology as early as possible. Many do not have the opportunity at home to use such technology. This would certainly give them a boost in learning. The document camera will better bring to life illustrations and text that once was hard for students to see. This will improve my lessons in visualization, descriptive language and many other topics surrounding the Common Core State Standards.

A document camera will make many lessons accessible to all students.

It will be so much easier to talk about a picture that is projected onto a large screen rather than getting 20 students to be able to see around a small illustration in a book.
