My Students

The school just doesn't generate the appropriate data during the school day to best assess our students, their deficits, and be pure we are providing challenges as well. Galileo will provide all the data necessary to truly individualize the program for each student.

My students are 6-12th graders of various ethnicities and socioeconomic levels.

They include everyone from special needs to foreign exchange students. The are readers and watchers, listeners and talkers, all eager to learn. We are a small (100 students) charter school in an urban setting. We draw mostly from the surrounding area, but have select students from an hour's drive away. Many have IEPs or 504s. Some of the older students also do career training or dual credit with the nearby community college. We try to provide as many opportunities as we can for every student.

My Project

Via computer, students at all grade levels and at all learning levels will be able to assess themselves on core areas of the curriculum. They will get immediate feedback on what they need to do to improve their scores as well as the teachers being able to sue not only individual data, but whole class data to better plan and teach the the needs of the students.

Based on our research we believe the use of Galileo will enhance our curriculum, improve our standardized test scores, engage the students in their own learning, and enable use to better differentiate in the classroom.

The research indicates that schools suing this software are showing gains in all of these areas. It appears to be a real plus for the students, parents, and teachers.
