Full STEAM Ahead: Using Play Osmo in Our Classroom Maker Space

"Creativity is intelligence having fun." -Albert Einstein A Maker Space is the perfect classroom space to collaborate, build, and learn!

I teach first grade students in a small community.

They are little bundles of energy and excitement. They love to work together and teach each other. Our school has more than 50% students on free/reduced lunch. It is very important for me to provide opportunities for my students, so they can be the best learners possible!

My Project

My students need ten Play Osmo systems to collaborate in our Maker Space. They will use Play Osmo and their iPads to practice math, reading, language, and arts skills. Play Osmo is an accessory for iPads. It is an add-on that enables kids to play with real toys and objects. Play Osmo recognizes these objects and incorporates them into digital play. My students will be participating in STEAM activities, including Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math. Play Osmo has programs to meet 4 of these categories! Among other things, hey will be able to spell words with letter tiles, while interacting with the iPad.

The donation of Play Osmos will provide my first graders with opportunities to participate in Science, Technology, Arts, and Mathematics activities.

It will change my classroom by allowing students to develop their 21st Century Skills!
