Remember that feeling you got when you first got hooked on reading? In my classroom, my mission is to ensure that all students experience this by helping them find their reading zone.
My classroom consists of 33 wonderful fifth grade students.
These students crave knowledge and love gaining it through reading fun, engaging books. They are bright, energetic, and absolutely in love with learning. I run an active, student centered classroom that is supplemented with as many hands-on projects and activities as possible. Our school is low income, currently in program improvement, and heavily fixated on state testing. Currently, it lacks the funds to supply some basic fundamental supplies to classrooms and students.
My Project
The books and basic school supplies will be put to constant use in our classroom. The school library currently lacks a good assortment of current titles that captivate my students' interest. This leaves me alone to fund their reading appetites. Our school also lacks the resources to fund other fundamental classroom supplies such as scissors, markers, glue, and decent pencils. These supplies are the backbone of every classroom and pave the way for endless engaging learning. The materials from this project will help me ensure every students' reading needs are met by adding more diversity and high interest books to the classroom library. The school supplies will help keep writing, projects, and artwork flowing throughout the school days. As a result, students will be able to complete book reports, art projects, creative writing, and more all while strengthening their reading brains!
The donation of these supplies will have many positive impacts on my classroom.
The books will motivate students to read and fall in love with reading great series. The supplies will ensure that every students' needs are met- no student will be without such essential supplies as a pencil or pair of scissors. Ultimately, this project will give students a happy, healthy learning environment in which they will thrive and grow.
