My third graders are beautiful students from many different corners of the world.
Many of the students speak another language as their first language. So, their learning has multiple layers and sometimes different methods of teaching and learning. In our urban setting on the east side of Madison students come with multiple needs and many assets.79% of my students come from homes at or below poverty level. Our population is very mobile. Many of my students do not have access to this technology at home.Many do not have a home at all.Despite these things, they are social, curious and lovers of learning.They are willing and eager to reflect and revise their work. Given the right tools, my third graders rise to academic challenges with gusto.
My Project
Our classroom has been slowly integrating technology so that students can learn and express their ideas in multimodal approaches. They will be able to create short stories, iMovies, illustrations and drafts of their writing with these iPads. Sharing their ideas will be very motivating. They will also be able to reinforce skills through certain applications for Math and Spelling. I have spent a great deal of time researching integration of technology into all subjects and and am eager to share that knowledge with my students!
