My Students

A typical day in my classroom involves movement, song, laughs, fun and most important: learning. In first grade, there is so much to explore and learn and so many different outlets to learn through. Bee Bots would help us work on our critical thinking, collaboration and communication skills.

My students are from a mixed suburban/rural school district with a third of our student population living in low income housing.

They love learning, making connections and engineering as much as possible! School is a safe place for them, as well as a place for exploration and opportunities that are not always available for them at home.

My Project

Bee Bots will help my first graders work on collaboration, communication and critical thinking skills, by allowing them to learn coding. The students will use the Bee Bots to create mazes and challenges for one another, as well as learning how to communicate success and failures of working together and of coding.

We believe in the 21st Century Skills as lifelong skills students need to be successful.

Even in first grade, we talk and discuss what these skills are and how to use them. We want our students to be creative, good communicators and collaborators, and critical thinkers. We don't want them to give up at failure; rather celebrate and improve. To make mistakes and learn to fix them. To think outside the box and know nothing is impossible. To be lifelong learners and to never give up.
