Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"Sitting still is overrated. It makes sense for the opera or for meditating, but in most classrooms and child care centers, it's given far more honor than it deserves. Children need to move." I believe it is imperative that students move around and be comfortable in their classroom home!
My students love learning, but often times struggle to stay focused.
Our school is an exciting, wonderful place to learn, which I love to teach at! My students learn life skills and character traits which enable them to be great citizens and successful. Even though my students come from hard backgrounds, each day they come into the classroom with a smile on their face, ready for the new challenges provided. My students have found a passion for reading! I want them to find a passion for real-world, factual topics through the non-fiction genre and research opportunities available!
My Project
My students need Chairback Buddy covers, relaxing and engaging seating around the room such as pillows, corner unit, and floor seats and storage to support flexible and engaging seating in our classroom. The materials will be used during stations, our Reading, Writing and Math lessons, reading workshop, Think Tanks, and book clubs. The vision I have for my classroom includes floor seating and a storage unit to elicit collaboration, standing desks, pedal desks to keep students active, seating areas with wiggle seats, and open floor space for students to lay and work with clipboards. Introducing my students to flexible seating will give them the opportunity to explore what works best for them. The focus of a 21st century classroom is on students experiencing a "Starbucks" type of atmosphere- comfortable and engaging!
I believe in creating a classroom which students can find value in their classroom and feel proud to be a part of something great.
I believe this will encourage their leadership and enable them to explore multiple opportunities. Please help us make a difference by a BIG classroom transformation!
