Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Some of my students have not found a love of physical education or lack the knowledge in physical training to maintain a healthy lifestyle. My class has PE every single day and could use help including materials to keep students motivated, challenged, engaged, and having fun!
My students come from a city with rough neighborhoods where it's typically not safe to play outside.
Including an enjoyable and successful PE Program at school is vital to getting them the physical activity they need at this early stage in life. Childhood obesity is a problem that can be fixed and paying attention to the fitness instruction in schools is an essential way to fight the problem.
My Project
My students will use a portable speaker with a microphone to hear instructions and enjoy music to motivate them during physical education. My students need yoga cards to learn flexibility, coordination, and balance. My students also need timers to partner up and keep accountable for their timed running goals. They will be able to practice many new PE activities that are exciting and will keep them interested. They will learn that there are various ways to keep moving and that Physical Education does not have to be scary and tiring, but rather fun and rewarding.
My project will make a difference in teaching my students that fitness is vital for a healthy and happy life.
They will enjoy being active every day and can help them learn in other areas of school as their brains and bodies become alert and ready to work!
