Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Traveling has become an integral part of our world. In order, to achieve success in the modern world, we must be knowledgeable about where people are from and have an understanding of a country's place on a continent!

The students in my school don't realize that they go to school in a district with such a high-poverty area rate that everyone in the district receives free breakfast and lunch.

They have no idea because the teachers at this fine arts and science school teach them to know that music is able to transport them to new places, science shows how organic farming can increase your health and art is a language unto itself. They understand that a drum beat aids them in learning math and that art projects are about processes, not products. These young scholars are educated to understand that trying your best will allow you to achieve your dreams. The school building itself is almost 100 years old, but all the teachers strive to make their classrooms warm, safe, and stimulating places for students. We do it so that they have at least one place with consistency in their lives.

My Project

Our world changes so quickly! Right now, my classroom map doesn't even have some of the countries that have been created in the last ten years! I would love to have maps that are up to date so that map skills can be taught and the students can physically find the relationships between places in the world. Although the U.S. concentrates on reading and math - we can't forget how important it is to read a map or learn about what has come before so we don't repeat mistakes of the past.

Please, help my students explore the world!

Let them have an understanding of distances, map skills and relationships between places by helping us to have up-to-date maps and daily geography and world practice books for our classroom!
