This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember when you were in school and your parents kept up with your grades and behavior? How they looked through your papers and praised you for a job well done, or questioned why you didn't do your best? I need to make it easier for my students' parents to keep in touch with us.

We are a fantastic group of energetic, second-graders in an inner-city school.

We are a Title I school in a high poverty area. Nearly all of my students receive free breakfast and lunch and a high number of our families struggle to meet the basic needs of their families.

My Project

Schools play a significant role in getting families involved in students' education. In a study it was discovered that school and teacher practices were the strongest predictors of parental involvement. A few specific practices that predict parental involvement include: assigning homework designed to increase student-parent interactions and communicating to parents about their child's education. We are requesting binders and materials to establish our family communication binders. Being organized is a key to success.

Parental involvement and two-way communication is a crucial key to success.

Please help me instill the importance of organization and parental involvement in my students now and for many years to come.
