Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Introducing a variety of universities to my students is a goal this academic year. I want to build on what my students have learned about universities.
All my students take part in the free federal lunch program.
Our school is a Title 1 school with students from second to sixth grade. My students are from the inner city and mostly English language learners. They are hard-working, resourceful, self-motivated young people who are eager to be life long-learners. The school's philosophy focuses on leadership skills, with an emphasis on critical thinking and 21st century skills.
My Project
My students will complete individual newspaper templates. The newspaper will give information on different universities. Students will continue to build their writing skills. The Polaroid camera and film will be used to add pictures instantly to their newspaper template. The garden flags and mini-pennants will be displayed on the newspaper using the polaroid pictures. The cart will be used to carry supplies throughout the school so students can display their newspaper write-up. The iPad protectors will be used to preserve the iPads we have in stock.
Students will display their newspaper reports throughout the school.
Students will be actively engaged in writing and use these skills to introduce different universities to their peers.
