My Students

Can you remember how hard it was to sit still all day and focus? I want to provide exercise balls for my students to use as chairs so they can release energy while they work.

I teach in a small rural school in Southern West Virginia.

My school has a large number of students who receive free or reduced price lunch. There are many students who are living in poverty. I see many children each year who have focus issues and who are very active. Learning is difficult for students when they need to release energy and I want to provide a way for them to wiggle while they work.

My Project

My students will use the exercise balls to replace chairs in the classroom. They will be able to sit at their desk and move while they work. By providing this alternative seating, I will give my students a way to be more successful academically, enabling them to focus better.

My students will be happier, more engaged, and more successful academically by having the exercise balls as a way to release excess energy while working.

By encouraging movement during instruction, I will enable students to focus on learning.
