My students need a document camera because we do not have enough textbooks for everyone in the class.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Klin's classroom raised $773

My Students
My students enjoy exploring history and science, but accessing visual material in a classroom setting is not an easy task. Our school does not have the funds to provide science and social studies textbooks.
I teach in a charter school that is founded on Hawaiian core values.
My students are from different areas of the world, but their hearts and motivation for learning are the same. From reading about historical figures, events, and cultures to solving real world problems with math and honing arguments with language skills, they thirst for knowledge. My students dream of being scientists, doctors, and explorers on the verge of making discoveries.
My Project
95% of my school receives free and reduced lunch. Since we do not have enough textbooks, I have to create black and white copies of science and social studies books. These photocopies are a stop-gap solution to the lack of text books. The copied pages are not reusable beyond one year and is not environmentally sound.
I could enrich my class' learning experience with a document camera. Using one textbook, I could project it to the class as a whole. Photocopies cannot convey the colors and details. Science and social studies textbook charts, graphs and images can be examined closely -- encouraging discussion and motivating interactive learning. Students can also use the document camera to display their art and writing ideas to the whole class. The document camera would motivate the children and enhance their learning experience.
In my small charter school, there are 25 first graders trying to learn with limited materials.
As a teacher, I want to reach my students in the most effective way possible. I want to encourage interaction, curiosity, problem solving, and communication.
A document camera would be the jump start my students to succeed. By providing funds to help my class you are providing a better future for my students. We can change lives and provide a better future -- one student at a time.
