Engineering a Life-Long Love of Learning

Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Growing up, I had a passion for inventing and engineering. My goal is to pass that passion over to my students. A typical day in my class usually ends with a hurried clean-up..we are so involved in our projects. I want to ensure my students have the technology to push our projects farther.

My students are Mighty Minions!

They may be constantly talking and moving, but they have a genuine motivation for learning about new things that can impact their own lives. Our district and school is high poverty and many of my students have never had the opportunity to use technology other than playing video games on their moms' phones. I want them to understand that they can build a career in STEM related areas and increase their knowledge of technology no matter what opportunities or lack of opportunities they may have at home.

My Project

With the use of the 5 iPads, we will be able to explore coding with the help of our classroom robots Dash and Dot - not just in isolated groups of 1 or 2 students at a time, but as a whole engaged classroom. We will also be able to utilize a multitude of free applications that are only available to iPads that will contribute to all STEM areas.

Your donations will bring what seems to be a missing key component to many high poverty areas - hope.

Your donations will open my students' minds and hearts and will take them into an amazing and wonderful world of inquiry and imagination. Your donations will level the playing field and will provide my students with a means to find the answers (they are constantly bombarding me with) all by themselves!
