My Students

Incorporating technology into our daily lessons is a goal that keeps my students motivated and excited. I often seek new ways to do this by preparing student led assignments and allowing the students to deliver small group presentations. I want my students to be prepared for the challenges ahead.

My 5th Graders attend a public elementary Title 1 school in Georgia.

The majority of my students are ELL (English language learners) and have limited resources at home. They work hard at accomplishing their goals and trying to eliminate any shortcomings that they may face. My students are motivated, eager and always seeking new ways to learn concepts. Our school has limited resources and we utilize what we have. Oftentimes we have to share those resources with several classes throughout the school. Having the ability to present and learn by way of an ELMO document camera and wireless slate would really excite my students. Many of my students have younger brothers and sisters that they would be able to foster their newly learned concepts with.

My Project

A wireless slate along with the Elmo for our classroom will allow me to plan more fun and interactive lessons for my students. Being able to project images, lessons and the occasional video will keep my class more engaged in their learning. All students, especially visual learners, will be able to have more independence in completing their activity. Instead of writing several sentences on the board and having the students copy from there, the document camera would allow me to write these sentences on the actual worksheet the students are working on right in front of them, which will lead to less confusion and again, more independence. With these tools, I will be able to save time which is very important. I will be able to create more organized and interesting daily lessons for my students. It will keep me from having my back to the students while writing on the white board and allowing me to bring things to life in the classroom.

By funding my project and providing my class with the wireless slate and ELMO, my students will be able to learn new concepts and self independence.

It will prepare my students for the weekly assessments and also the newly state mandated Milestone test. Having the wireless slate and ELMO will allow enhance my teaching and also the students ability to learn. It will have a dynamic impact on not only my class this year but for years to come.
