Teacher W. from Atlanta GA is requesting a class trip through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
We need funding for an all inclusive educational EF Tour to Japan to experience the culture of Japan and complete their student lead animation project.

I am excited about my students Mariah, Chyrsty, Amanda, Devonte, Desiree, and Javonte leading an animation project. Their dream is to go to Japan and experience the culture through the EF Tours and gain educational inspiration for an animated media documentary.
My students developed an idea for animation in the Anime Style during an art club meeting. The students plan included research of Japan and this lead to a discussion about how amazing it would be to use their own personal photos from a trip to Japan and place themselves as characters in an anime style documentary.
EF Tours are known for providing the framework for students to develop skills that prepare them for college through cultural awareness, skills in time management, hands on practical application in sequential art creation and writing. Some students may receive credit for higher education through EF Tours. This will help them with careers in Journalism, visual art, and social work for example. Examples of the academic and social-emotional skills will be teamwork in living and traveling together in a different county, math skills will be used for budgeting and other skills will be gained in creating storyboards which requires writing and group collaboration.
Our goal is to learn about the culture of Japan and to create a digital animation using our characters and storyboard addressing the idea of meeting people outside your own community. When coming from Japan we plan to create a moving artwork of of observations and experiences. Our animation will show every part we loved of the wondrous country of Japan. We will animate it in a popular style inspired by that country that we all personally love, anime! We will illustrate the beauty of the country.
We will learn with our art teachers. We will create Chiba versions of each of our members as they take a stroll along memory lane of Japan. We will bring the different attributes of Japan and express the backgrounds changing from history, culture, art, lifestyle, and business. Some will even have a Chiba character of its own representing a part of it. We will use digital graphic media to create the animation and share with others.
Our project is important to our club and school because we aspire to open the mind of everyone around us. We hope to make others inspired to explore other places and cultures that differ from their own. Lately students haven't been interested in anything different from the oh-so-usual standards of our society. If we allow our students to experience a different way of living, then it will let they're minds become open to be creative in the way they live their day to day lives.
