My Students

I would like to give my students as many opportunities to succeed in their chosen paths, even if we do not have the newest technology in our school.

My students are at the top of their class, so they are very hard working.

Due to education cut-backs, there is not enough funding for the simplest resource, such as a modeling kit. The resources we have, we make work. Extra resources help enrich our basic fundamental laboratory.

My Project

Teaching in a diverse school allows for students to come from many different backgrounds, and thus have many different learning styles. As new technologies are discovered, our school is usually the last to obtain them because our students succeed regardless. I hope to bring in this modern modeling kit to allow my students to gain a better understanding of how amino acids work with the models up close.

This project will help my students gain a better, three-dimensional understanding about how amino acids work and how they are incorporated into the protein structure.

Amino acids are the basic fundamental part of our genetic make up, as they code for the many proteins in our bodies. This concept is difficult to understand on paper. However, it helps to be able to hold a model in your hand and see the amino acid for what it is.
