This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them." -Walt Disney. My students struggle every day to learn and excel. I feel that with the use of technology, they will increasing their levels of learning and pursue their dreams of doing great things in the world.

All of the students at my school receive free lunches and come from economically challenged families.

Using technology is not their first priority, keeping a roof over their heads and food on the table are first priorities. Having access to tablets and a great site full of books like myON is a privilege for them. They will have access to books read by fluent readers which in turn will help them become more fluent readers. My students want to learn and become great leaders. They work very heard to get up to grade level. They were chosen to be in a pilot program for coding. These tablets will give them access to learning code.

My Project

My students will be able to read a plethora of books online using myON. They can listen to fluent readers reading books to them and also read just right books online by themselves. Students will be able to check out their tablets to take home to read books off line. This will help their fluency grow. My students will also use the tablet to learn code. I will use the curriculum designed by code.org to teach them coding. This is their future. The jobs my students have in the future have not been created yet therefore by teaching coding they will have an advantage over others.

By donating to my project, it will change my students' lives for the better.

They will have access to technology, will become more fluent readers, and, most importantly, learn code. Learning coding is where their future lies. They will understand coding and have the skills to create what their imagination thinks up.
