My students need 11 Chromebooks to conduct research on people and jobs in theatre arts, as well access our new Drama Google Classroom, and to create web portfolios.
"We need technology in every classroom and in every student and teacher's hand, because it is the pen and paper of our time, and it is the lens through which we experience much of our world."--David Warlick. "Drama is the art form that presents the world to itself."-- Me
My students are some of the best around.
They are inquisitive, artistic, and knowledge seeking. From grades Pre-K to the 8th-grade, my students are constantly pushing the boundaries of what it means to be a theatre artist, by bringing new insights to our classes. My school holds the arts to a very high standard, and we are constantly pushing the boundaries of what it means to be an arts integration school, seeking the best practices and innovations to help all of our students become life long learners in the 21st Century.
My Project
My students will use the chromebooks as a first step into a fully technologically integrated arts curriculum. The students will have access to Google's new education platform, Google Classroom, and will have the ability to research artistic, as well as academic topics. As we explore different jobs in the theatre arts, the students will have the chromebooks available in each Drama Studio including: acting, directing, scenic design, light design, costume design, stage management, to explore the responsibilities of each job, key figures in each field, and examples of excellence in each. With the help of this technology, the students will then be able to collaborate with their peers and share their finding much more efficiently and effectively. Technology is a staple in the world in which we live. While most of my students have access to technology, ensuring that the classroom has technology, will make sure that ALL of my students have the tools they need to succeed.
Donating to my project will help my drama classes enhance their technological literacy, streamline classwork and research, more easily connect with the content at a very deep level, and give another tool with which to create theatre.
