This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Imagine doing a group research project on the computer. When you find the right website with the information you are looking for the teacher informs you that your time is up and you must rotate with another group. Please save these brilliant minds from frustration and wasted time.

My students are incredibly driven and eager to learn even though they must overcome many obstacles.

Ninety-five percent of them receive free lunches. Most come from homes with low income and are considered English Language Learners. As abundant as technology is today, most of my students do not have access to it at home. School is considered their safe haven and our school provides that for them in many ways.

My Project

I am requesting donations for one Gateway net book in hopes of providing more technology in our classroom. I believe that this extra resource will help my students become more familiar with technology and how it is used. I also believe that with this extra resource more research based projects will be put into place. My students will have more opportunities to do research, where as before it was always a time constraint and only being able to use what technology was available. Working collaboratively has always been an effective strategy used in our classroom. My students have always been patient and considerate of what technology we have available. Having this resource will only give them more opportunities to work together to create, analyze, or evaluate their new knowledge.

I want my students to learn to use resources to answer their own questions.

With your donations they will be able to do this. I believe this technology will help my students learn about content areas at a deeper level. It is amazing how technology is changing our world and these children need the opportunity to have as much exposure as possible.
