My students need TI NSpire and TI-84 calculators to help them be successful in math class!

The daily curriculum for my students is demanding. At our school, the expectation is that every classroom is using technology nearly every single day. Though this is a great expectation, students (and the school) often don't have the resources necessary to get them accommodate their needs.
My students are highly motivated, but do not always have the resources they need to succeed.
Our classroom is a safe space where our diverse learners can find support, ask questions, and gain the confidence that they need to be successful in the classroom. Though our school is located in Englewood, our students do not let the violence and poverty that is so prevalent in the neighborhood deter them from their focus on academic success. Our school is a safe space amidst the violence--we are welcoming and predictable. We create a space that has high expectations for all students, but also a space that provides the resources and tools for students to be successful.
Often times, our special education students are pulled out of Math class to come to resource to get extra 1-on-1 support, test separately, or work on things in a smaller setting. Though this is great, our resource room often does not have the adequate supplies to assist those students. Having these additional calculators will allow our resource room to fully function as the support classroom that it needs to be. Additionally, students will have access to the same technology that all of the other students have! Budget cuts in the district have led to increased class sizes and less resources. Often, because our students leave the general education classroom, the general education teacher cannot give them calculators to take with them--there are just not enough to go around. Consequently, our students don't have access to the same technology. These calculators will be used every single day to even out the playing field for our students.
Donations to this project will allow us to provide the necessary materials that students need be successful in our school.
Often times, students take longer to complete their assignments. While this is absolutely okay, we as the Special Education teachers often do not have the adequate technology in our resource room to assist students with their work. Donations to this project will ensure our students learn math in the same way and with the same materials as the rest of the students!
