This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My biggest challenge every school year is instilling in my students that passion for reading and the skills level that will allow them to fully enjoy the imagery the authors want to provoke and profit to the fullest from the world of knowledge investigators share with them.

The students in my classroom are 8-9 year old boys and girls from a suburb of Dallas and mostly coming from an Hispanic background.

They have their socio economical limitations and therefore their lives lack the level of rich diversity of experiences. Their access to many places and experiences is mostly localized.

My Project

There is always the need to focus an additional amount of time and resources to students that achieve a lower level of performance than their peers. One way of doing this is establishing small groups and providing guided reading comprehension exercises where they can receive more direct help. Surface tablets will allow for more dynamic vivid means of acquiring these skills with the appropriate software (Istation, Study Island, etc.)

These tablets will allow the teacher to use software available through the web that will increase their opportunity to improve their skills and performance.

Their responses will be more effectively monitored.
