Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Help us reach our goals and master our objectives! In our classroom, we do all sorts of hands on projects to make our learning stick! Our literacy knowledge will soar by using these exemplars of excellent text as a key ingredient in maximizing comprehension and reading skills.
We are a Title I school in rural North Carolina where 70% of my class speaks English as a second language, and a whopping 96% receive free or reduced lunch.
My students are enthusiastic and eager to learn. They come to school with open minds and hearts ready to see what adventure we will go on next.
My Project
My students need the Common Core Exemplar Text Library to improve literacy skills, Gooney Greene book series for read alouds, and a teaching easel to use during literacy. These literacy materials will give much needed practice in reading and writing skills. The Common Core Text Exemplar Library will provide my students with practice looking up answers and citing evidence from text to back up statements in writing. Each of these exemplars of text will supplement our Core Reading Program and benefit the students as they decipher meaning, decode words, make connections, take notes, and cite evidence. The teaching easel will help supplement oral reading comprehension skills while supporting their written comprehension as well. The series set will create a fun routine read aloud that teaches character traits through a second grader, as well as support content they will be learning in their own class.

Close reading skills are instrumental in all aspects of learning in every curriculum area. These reading skills include noting details, drawing conclusions, making inferences, and problem solving. These supplies and activities will not only impact this year's students but all my students for years to come.
