My Students

Talking about Immigration and experiencing it are two very different things. Talking about the Civil War and experiencing it are two very different things. I would love to reward my class after a year of hard work with a very memorable trip to New York, Gettysburg, and our Nation's Capitol.

Our Community School believes in empowering students.

It is a school where student voices are heard and valued, teachers go by their first names creating equality not hierarchy, and parent volunteers are the norm. Students give back by completing community service hours and become ethical members in the community. Our students work hard and play even harder!

My Project

This epic field trip will create endless memories for my students. Our field trip will include 3 states and important sites such as the Statue of Liberty, Ellis island, Gettysburg, the White House, Pentagon, Smithsonian museum, Capitol and Supreme Court Building, Washington/Lincoln Monument, Arlington National Cemetery, and more!

My students will never forget their 8th grade trip to DC.

Talking history and seeing history are two very different things. I remember a few years back discussing with students how our national anthem came to be. Telling the story of Francis Scott Key and his personal witness of the bombardment of Fort McHenry and the pride he felt after seeing our flag still waving. A few months later I took students to see that very same flag at the Smithsonian. Needless to say, my students were speechless.
