Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"Creativity is intelligence having fun!" -Albert Einstein believed that the best thinking came from people who were able to think outside the box and be CREATIVE! I am a firm believer that students are more engaged and learn more when they have the opportunity to unleash their creative side.
Our students face the challenges of coming from an extremely high poverty neighborhood everyday.
They do not have the materials or resources necessary to obtain the same kind of education as surrounding districts. 99% of our school population receives a free or reduced price lunch.
These students attend a public middle school in an urban area. Many of our students are reading well below proficiency. They may come from homes where English is not the primary language spoken or they may be the ones in charge at home because their parents work nights.
My Project
The Cameo will open the door to many different opportunities in my classroom. My students will thrive in their core subjects when they are able to create projects while engaging in art activities about it. My students will create math fact posters, that will catch the attention of all the students. Students will complete research and science projects that they can be proud to show their parents during open house that are visually interesting. In this very technology focused age, the chance to work with a Cameo will catch the interest of every student, even the reluctant learners.
The Students will also benefit from the various materials that I will be able to create for them. Such as: t-shirts for the athletic department, coordinate grids, educational posters, math manipulatives, bulletin boards, labels, etc. The options are endless!
These supplies with allow all my students from, regular education to ELL to special education, access to all the core subjects.
These projects and materials will make learning fun again for my students which will be refreshing in the mist of Common Core and Standardized testing. With the Cameo, the students will continue to develop their creativity and technology exposure.
