My Students

I am excited to teach art after many years of being a classroom teacher. I will have second and third graders. This age group is wonderful- bursting with ideas and creativity! It is not only my job, but my honor to guide them on their journeys as artists.

My school is large, housed in two buildings.

I teach the second and third graders. My students come from all over. Many speak another language at home, and several are new arrivals to the country. This will be my 12th year at this school, which should tell you something about how great it is!

My Project

I love using oil pastels with students, so I have requested several of these. The children will use these to create landscapes, portraits, multicultural projects, and more. I am asking for tempera cakes as well. These are fun for the kids and make painting with large very manageable. I have many painting projects in mind this year, including painting masterpieces that tie in with the children's social studies curriculum. Finally, I am requesting construction paper crayons. The bright colors and strong pigments offer endless possibilities for fabulous creations!

Donations to my project will help to create a busy, productive art room.

I am starting from scratch having taught second grade for the past several years. When my students see that my room has transformed into an art studio, complete with fun materials, they will be thrilled and ready to create!
