This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
A typical 'Fun Friday.'
Fun at school? Of course! I start by showing my students a TED Talk, then do math games- shhh don't tell them they're practicing skills AND having fun, followed by science time (projects, videos, literature, etc.). It's the end of the week and we have a lot to look back on.
My school is situated in a high poverty, polluted, but culturally rich community.
My class makeup includes students that were born and raised in another country, from the community, or from similar communities. Home visits reveal concerns over safety, graffiti, trash, and simply a desire for the best education the students can get.
My Project
As it is, a bright classroom is the result of crayons, color pencils, markers, and MANY hours coloring things in. In order to maximize instruction in the classroom we simply need an efficient way to brighten our creations. I want my students to be able to display what they've created, print the pictures they take for science fair posters, put color graphs on their math work, and more!
My project will motivate the students to create more graphs, models, take pictures, create posters, add interesting images to their projects, and simply be more creative!
Through creative expression, my students will not only produce evidence of their hard work, but also take pride in their work.
"It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge." -Albert Einstein.
Thank you in advanced for supporting the students.
