My students need blocks, literature, relaxing music, puppets, and a touchscreen tablet to enable them to be engaged in counseling sessions and lessons.
Life is too short not to be happy is a saying I live by and try to pass on to all students I encounter. I am a new counselor replacing our former one who passed away. To help our grieving process and to support students socially and academically, various forms of therapy need to be incorporated.
The students I will instruct are in range from pre-k through 5th grade at a rural elementary school that had significant damage from Hurricane Rita.
Due to flooding from Hurricane Rita, many of our residents have moved out and their homes are now rented to clientele with different backgrounds and needs. There are more students who come from broken homes than we have had in the past. There are also more students with behavioral and emotional issues than we have had at this school in the past.
My Project
To insure that I provide my students beneficial experiences concerning social and academic counseling , I would like to order materials to be able to provide a variety of counseling therapies. This project would benefit my students by allowing them to deeply be engaged in counseling sessions and classroom lessons about character development. Students who are socially and academically stable will perform at a higher level on our state standardized testing.
Donations to this request will allow students to be stable and successful socially and academically.
The broad impact of this project will enable my students to achieve in school and become productive citizens as adults.
