The first grade classrooms at Midvale School are not only full of hard working teachers, but also some of the most dedicated and hard working students you'll ever meet. However, an external factor may challenge all of us in our learning this year: the noise of construction.
Our kids are inspiring, resilient, and absolutely amazing.
In our classrooms, the students comprise a community that largely reflects their own: diverse interests, backgrounds, and viewpoints that lead to unbelievable character and self-representation as they challenge each other to see the world in many different ways. In total, there are more than 60 first graders who will be served by this project.
My Project
In order to fulfill their magnificent potential, our students need to be able to focus throughout their day. The noise of construction will greatly distract our students, especially those who are most vulnerable (students with diverse needs, those who have not had enough sleep, and those with audio-sensitivity) but also has the potential to distract every student. Noise canceling headphone will provide our students with a quiet haven of focus to improve their work and learning.
The school in which our first grade team works is wonderfully sensitive to the needs of students and staff, providing us with attentive support and supplies for learning.
However, budgets are limited, and a set of noise canceling headphones for every first grade student is a costly desire. Our students deserve to have the ability to focus, to do their best, and to improve their learning while the school is remodeled and redesigned to support their journey throughout elementary school.
