My Students

My classroom is full of hands-on, child-led learning. We have worked so hard this year to become constructors of knowledge and now we want to really construct to solve real world problems!

My children are some of the most curious, hands-on, innovators you will ever meet!

My children are in a developmentally appropriate classroom, where they have the opportunity to embrace failure, experiment, create, and develop their understanding of the world!

My Project

My children will be using the woodworking materials to realize that they can bring their ideas to life! They will be using the materials to construct different structures. They will learn to plan, visualize, and follow through to create their item. They will have to use math skills, such as shape, size, contrast, comparing, spatial relationships. They will use scientific investigation and problem-solving. They also get to be creative and use their imagination! My children will learn to work together to research, design, plan, and implement a larger woodworking project for our classroom or maybe even our school!

My children will learn many skills through woodworking: mathematical, spatial reasoning, scientific investigation, physical development, communication skills,etc.

But that is not the only way the children will be impacted. When children are trusted with the responsibility of what they see as an 'adult task' (real tools) they are building their self-esteem. They are accomplishing tasks that at first seem challenging but they will learn to work through failure and take pride in their creations!
