Cells Are Fun!

My students need models of plant and animal cells, Lab kits for hands-on learning, and colored pencils to draw their results and lessons.

My Students

My students love hands-on projects and labs and I want to bring them fun and teachable moments with additions of labs on hard to understand objectives. I want them to be able to see in their mind at any time what we actually performed and learned and I feel this is achievable through lab experiments

My students are eager to learn.

They are fun-loving and very interested in biology when we can perform a lab, they are always asking if we can go to lab today! However our school is located in a low-income rural area and we are not able to purchase "extra" projects and labs with our budget. My students love when we can perform a lab and they can actually see and get a return on their efforts. I try to come up with interesting and fun labs but they really enjoy when we can do a "real lab". My students would be so appreciative for this extra opportunity to perform fun and challenging labs.

My Project

My students would use these resources and labs to engage in a challenging and productive lab. They would see several processes they do not get to experience at this time. Using the models the students would be able to touch and experience the parts of a cell and not just talk about something they cannot visually engage in with a hands-on experience. They would be able to put it all together and see the big picture, it would "come alive" for them and not just be another lesson on paper. The colored pencils would definitely be used in sketching out their lab results and their cell models and parts. Our art supplies are very limited and this would give the students the opportunity to also create their lesson.

My students need models of plant and animal cells, Lab kits and colored pencils.

Donations to this project would be such a blessing because the students would get to experience a lesson on such a broader scale then just on paper, they would be able to live it. And I would hope it would spark something in some students to pursue a career involving lab research or experimentation in a lab. I think this project would show students an example of a career they may want to pursue.
