My Students

Our 5th graders are given the opportunity to coordinate, try out for, and plan our daily morning announcements. This is an opportunity to share school-wide. One of our two cameras has seen its final days. In order to continue with this program, we need to replace that camera.

Our school does not quite qualify as a Title I school even though based on our economic make up, we should.

We have a small population with a PTA that does their very best to raise money for special events and materials. Our 5th graders look forward to the year they are able to lead the broadcast and are given the opportunity to choose their job and try different positions. It is a wonderful leadership role for our 5th graders who are on their way to middle school.

My Project

We have students in charge of manning the cameras, the teleprompter, the computer, the sound and directing. Our 5th graders have to qualify to be on the broadcast team by demonstrating leadership qualities, keeping high grades, and getting permission from their parents to add one more activity to their day. With two cameras, we are able to have our main anchors, as well as, weather and special events.

This project will allow our student-led morning announcements to continue and assist in building strong leaders in our school.

Having a new camera will allow us to continue with the same standard that we have always had.
