Our school is made up of students who have not found success in traditional high school settings. We are about humanity. Our students are working to leave our community in a better place than when we started school. We are located on a community college campus in Eugene, Oregon.
We focus on nurturing healthy young adults, successful careers and college success.
We focus on readiness for the real world. Our goals include preparing high school students for careers or college. Our students demonstrate this proficiency and readiness through community service projects and ideas, which includes our vision of building shelters for our homeless community.
My Project
We will use these tools to build shelters for the homeless in our community. Students will work with local business and community college students. Students will learn basic carpentry skills. Our students will learn fundamental safety skills that are relevant for numerous contexts. Hand and power tool safety, trades math, blueprint reading, and carpentry skills. Students will construct various size shelters and dwellings for the homeless. Students will also work with organizations to deliver, install and establish these shelters throughout our community.
Our students will be able to give back to our community and help solve a community problem that impacts many of our citizens.
We want to help provide our homeless population with shelter and a place to get warm. Many of our students know someone who has been homeless. This project is near and dear to their own lives.
