Advisory class is the way we start our day at my school. It is a period of introspection, reflection, and goal setting. This year, our focus is on career goals, and I would like to get my students thinking about STEM careers in a fun, hands-on way.
My students are sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students who join me for Advisory class for all three of their middle school years.
During their time with me, we develop a strong bond as a class. My students enjoy this time of introspection but also wish to make the class more hands-on and interactive. Bringing STEM robotics equipment into our class will help us achieve this goal.
My Project
We are requesting two LEGO Mindstorm robotics sets as well as two LEGO Mindstorm activity books. The Mindstorm sets will allow my students to explore electricity and circuitry as they build the robots. Further, the included Mindstorm software will allow them to use coding skills to program the robots. After my students have created the robots, the two Mindstorm books will provide them with extension and enrichment activities. All together, these resources will really help us develop a robotics program in our Advisory class!
These items will make a huge difference in my Advisory class!
They will allow my students to explore the skills and traits needed for STEM careers in a fun, hands-on way. These resources will help bring our career focus to life in a way that my students are sure to remember for a lifetime. Thank you for bringing LEGO Mindstorm robots to our class!
