William Temple once said, "The most influential of all educational factors is the conversation in a child's home." I truly believe this. Many people don't realize that their home is another type of classroom and how much of an impact the people in it have on their child's learning.
My fourth grade students are eager, ambitious and want to explore the world, not only for the eight hours while they are in school but even when they go home!
I work at a Title I school where many of my students come from low socioeconomic backgrounds. My student's families have very busy lives but they want to help their students any way they can, they just might not know how. I can send extra packets of review work home (but that isn't fun or engaging for anyone) or I can send home the activities we did in class together!
My Project
Children always learn better when they can get their hands on something and investigate it for themselves. These reading and math games will give them the chance to do just that! They will be introduced in our centers and small groups during school, then my students will be able to take them home and teach their families! They will not only be learning new skills but reinforcing those skills while teaching others. Through these games my students will focus on reading strategies, comprehension, writing, and math skills while also integrating our science and social studies curriculum. Many of our state standards will be taught and reinforced through these educational games, activities and books!
Your contribution will help my students in ways they will never fully understand.
I believe these activities and interaction with their families can help my students become amazing learners and help them to expand their life's goals, dreams and confidence. Please help me make their educational experience and future brighter!
