This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
What is art? With a lack of an arts program, how will the students express their creativity?
From kindergarten, reading and mathematics are pushed heavily and art is just an after thought.
We lack funds for the basics and cannot provide additional resources for the fine arts. Children at a young age have so much to explore but we are not able to foster and grow their creativity and imaginations.
My Project
I would love to implement a weekly art session where my students are able to use a medium such as paint, chalk, and crayons to express their learning. Even something as simple as painting their mood would not only help with students being able to express themselves but their fine motor skills as well.
I want to change my students' perception of "art." By being able to have more art lessons with my students, I hope that it inspires them to push the boundaries of their imagination.
