Bring Clarity and Excitement to Kids with Special Needs

My students need an iPad to access apps that target their specific academic, developmental, and social learning needs.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students require curriculum that is brought to life in front of their eyes. Technology helps students understand the curriculum that is being presented each day.

I am a special education teacher for kindergarten and 1st grade students.

I do not have my own classroom, I plug-in to various classrooms and work with small groups of kids. As a result of overcrowding within my school, I will often be found sitting in the hallway, or anywhere that I can find a quiet space to teach kids. My students are excited to learn and I want to make sure that their desire to learn remains at a high level. I teach at a school that is highly impacted by poverty and also has a high percentage of students who are learning English as a second language. There are many instances throughout each day where I have to find creative ways to explain concepts and vocabulary words to the students. Since I am on the move all day, a portable iPad would be beneficial.

My Project

With an iPad, learning is endless. Not only will I be able to engage my students with games related to the curriculum, but I will be able to provide them with instantaneous visuals to explain new words, they will practice social skills such as turn taking, and they will gain experience in using current technology that they do not have access to at home.

I want to be able to give my students the opportunity to use an iPad as a learning tool.

This iPad would be very useful in engaging students in a way markers, paper, and worksheets cannot.
