Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I would like for my students to develop a love and hunger for reading. My biggest goal would be for all of my students to be able to read at or above grade level by the end of the year. Many of them have limited exposure to reading materials outside of school.

This book drive will benefit all of the kindergarten and first grade students at this school.

The kindergarten and first grade teams are both filled with students who have a growing hunger and passion for reading. Our school is 92% free and reduced lunch. The students come from a variety of families and backgrounds.

My Project

The books that we will receive from this project, will mean the world to our students. It will provide them with the opportunity to complete reading and writing homework at home with a variety of reading materials. Our classroom library will be more appropriately stocked and provide the students with more literary pieces to choose from.

The donations from this project will provide the students with books of their own to keep.

The students will develop a sense of ownership for their new reading materials. These new materials will help the students reading and writing grades improve because they will have a broader range of materials to chose from. This will change them for the better because it will give them the opportunity for their love of reading to increase and for their reading and writing scores to improve and increase.
