Big Light, Bright Light...We Need Some New Lights!

My students need fluorescent light filters for our classroom to help improve concentration, reduce anxiety, and enhance the overall environment of learning.

My Students

Imagine walking into a classroom with anchor charts, posters, and artwork hanging on the walls along with displays of various books around the room, yet you cannot enjoy any of it because of something as simple as the lighting in the classroom.

In my opinion, my students are 20 of the sweetest, most personality-filled members of this school and the rural, low-income community in which they live.

They have a wide range of ability levels and talents. Along with academic and behavioral struggles, many of my students struggle with having a difficult life at home as well. All of my students deserve to have a safe, warm, inviting learning environment in which they have the opportunity to succeed to their highest learning potentials. Having these fluorescent light filters for my classroom will help tremendously in giving them this opportunity.

My Project

When my students enter the classroom in the morning, they are so full of life, smiles, and excitement about their learning. Throughout the day, they use this energy to participate in many hands-on activities related to the skills being learned. By having these fluorescent light filters in my classroom, the harsh glare, light flickers, anxiety, eye strain, and headaches will decrease and a warm, encouraging, conducive learning environment will increase. The students will then see just how great their own potential is for learning.

As small of an item as fluorescent light filters may seem, having them in my classroom will tremendously improve the chances of my students being successful not only in my classroom now but in their futures as well.
