My students need one video camcorder to be able to conduct interviews within our community.

My Students
We want to tell and preserve the history of our community. One of the ways we would like to capture that history is to video recorded interviews of local citizens, parents, neighbors, and even grandparents.
The students in my class are awesome, they work hard and are curious to know the world around them.
They take pride in their community. We are a rural elementary school in Utah and this opportunity will be a unique experience allowing the students to witness and explore history first hand.
My Project
The camera will allow the students to be able to use and transfer the interviews that they conduct onto a computer and archive to share with others in our community. The recorded interviews will be archived and presented to the local mayor. This camera is durable and the main purpose in getting a portable camcorder is so that the students can check out the camera to take home and participate in this project. This will be an ongoing project and will continue with next year's students.
"A dwarf sees farther than the giant when he stands on the shoulders of the giant" (quoted by Newton and Einstein).
The students will only be able to see farther if they are able to interview people in their community. In essence, I want them to be able to stand on the shoulders of their parents and grandparents, by finding out their local histories.
