This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
"As a teacher I feel I have a moral obligation to help the children in my classroom grow toward becoming full human beings and feel successful." Jean Medick
My students are 2nd graders who are all of the following: inquirers, enthusiastic and creative learners.
They become very excited when new and innovative learning projects are incorporated into their school day. My school consists of approximately 750 Pre-K-2nd grade students. This is a rural community.
My Project
"Empowering students through art" will be the goal of this project. Students will enjoy reading the following pieces of literature: Ish, Elmer the Elephant, I Need My Monster and Klimit and His Cat. For each literature selection students will write a summary of the book along with creating an art project using at least 3 different types of art media. All projects will be housed in the communication center.
With this project students, students will connect literature and art through meaningful creations. Students will enhance their creativity, and it will allow their imaginations to flow endlessly.
If this project is funded, it will allow students a more enriching education and well keep students motivated in learning.
Students will be required to tap into their thinking skills as well.
