What makes reading fun? Well, good books of course. Being good at comprehension also makes reading fun too. What better way to help students love reading than with books that can be used to enhance comprehension skills.
The students in my 4th grade class are creative and fun-loving children.
They enjoy reading and are constantly checking out books from my classroom library to read. My students love it when I add new books to our classroom library. I am constantly shopping yard sales to find books to add to our library. Our school is located in a suburb near a large metropolitan city. Over half of our student population is low-income.
My Project
One of the major comprehension skills that my students must be familiar with is Point of View. My students are learning how to identify the Point of View in literature, which is who is telling the story. Not only this, but my students must be able compare and contrast stories that use the same point of view and stories that use different points of view. We practice by finding similarities and differences in narration between a story written in first person and a story written in third person point of view. Books that tell a familiar story, but from a different point of view are great tools to help with this concept. The books that I have requested like Really, Rapunzel Needed a Haircut!, Seriously, Cinderella Is So Annoying!, Seriously, Snow White Was So Forgetful!, Trust Me, Jack's Beanstalk Stinks!, Truly, We Both Loved Beauty Dearly! will allow my students to practice these important skills that we are learning in 4th grade.
By donating to this project, you will be putting more books into the hands of my students while also providing access to great reading materials for my students to practice identifying Point of View.
These books will make learning about Point of View fun and engaging.
