My Students

Children thrive in a visual and tactile world. Everything around them is able to be explored.

I have taught for four years and have seen technology grow.

The first two years I was at a school where there was very little technology. The past two years I have been teaching at a very tech oriented school where all classroom teachers use technology as part of their day to day instruction. The students also have the opportunity to use computers on a regular basis. Our first grade team uses apps to help students master math and reading skills. I have received very little training to help improve my technology skills and get them up to date so that I can better teach my students.

My Project

I plan to use the Apple TV and iPad mini after attending a professional development training on using the Apple TV in the classroom. This professional development will help me learn how to display first grade centered apps through the projector using the Apple TV and the iPad mini with its cover to protect it. These apps will help my students review concepts in an engaging manner. Using these apps will also help me reach those students who are visual learners.

This professional development project will help me to be a more effective teacher at reaching the hands-on learners in my class.
