Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
It doesn't matter where you come from, building a robot is plain cool. Being able to build a robot requires certain things. Two things needed are a will and desire. These have been provided by my students. What we don't have is a computer that can handle the software needed to design and build it.
My students come from economically disadvantaged homes.
Providing them with the opportunity to compete in the US First Robotics Competition has inspired many of them with an interest in science, math, and computer science.
The students can be a little tough, but beneath this exterior are kids who just need that added push to excel. Our students come from many different walks of life. We service students who are economically disadvantaged, immigrants from other countries, military students, and homeless students. We have students though who give everything they can to their education.
Students have been inspired and an interest in robotics fostered because of working with a robot. Working with a robot has given students a reason to pay attention in their science and math classes. Working with the robot has given students a real life connection with what they are learning in class.
My Project
Inspiring students, no matter where they are from, to take serious looks at science and math professions is very tough. Giving students the ability to create robots, to use the knowledge they are learning in science and math classes is a rare opportunity. Not having the materials should not be an issue. Please help us bring our students in contact with the professions of tomorrow, today.
The students of today are being trained for careers that we haven't even begun to imagine.
A student who is currently attending high school could be the inventor of the prosthetic device that allows an amputee to feel their toes or finger tips again. The student of today, is the leader of tomorrow. Without your investment today, what will tomorrow be like?
